We tested it in Windows 7. HP Notebook PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System). Select Create Recovery USB flash drive, and then click Next. If HP BIOS Update does not display or the issue persists, your computer might not support this function or there is a hard drive issue. Before we proceed, we would like to know if you are able to boot using Windows 10 installation media
I did not use the install on multiple computer option. So I don’t have it.
Ran the system file checker, did not find any integrity violations.
The first time, I downloaded windows 10 from the Microsoft web site. I noticed it added a 450 MB recovery partition. I made a new disk image of windows 10, it completed successfully. I then made a recovery drive with out system files. It also was successful. But it will not boot. Then I made one with system files, it was also successful. But will not boot.

- Greetings,Working on an HP 15 laptop which has more than 1 issue. Not the least of which is a malfunctioning HD. So the HD should be a standard replacement after tearing down th. Using HP BIOS Update Utility - Spiceworks.
I then restored back to 8.1 from a disk image and started over, but this time I went though windows update. The install went well, but this time there was no 450 MB recovery partition. Again I made a disk image of 10, no problems. I made a recovery drive with and with out system files, no problems. But it will not boot. I get BSOD WDF VIOLATION. It does not give a code. The recovery drives I make in 8.1 boot up and work fine. I am thinking the problem is with the windows 10 recovery environment.

When I try to create a Recovery Drive in Windows 10, Windows doesn't recognize the flash drive.
I'm following the instructions to create a Recovery Drive listed here:

From the taskbar, search for Create a recovery drive and then select it. You might be asked to enter an admin password or confirm your choice. (I was asked to confirm my choice, and I clicked 'Yes'.)
When the tool opens, make sure Back up system files to the recovery drive is selected and then select Next.
(Secret Step) Wait a minute or so for the 'Please Wait' screen to finish thinking
Connect a USB drive to your PC, select it ..
The issue is that when I connect a USB drive to the PC, it doesn't appear on the 'Connect a USB flash drive' screen as a drive that can be selected, and the 'Next' button is grayed out.
However, when I look in File Explorer, I can see the USB drive plugged into the computer. Selecting Properties shows that Windows considers its Type to be 'Removable Disk'. (Sounds right to me.)
This tool will install you the latest drivers for all devices on your computer. Supported OS: Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7, Windows Vista. This utility contains the only official version for HP Deskjet 2050 Driver for Windows XP/7/Vista/8/8.1/10 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Impressora hp deskjet 2050 windows 8.
I'm not getting any error messages.
My environment:
A brand new Toshiba Sattelite C55-C5241 laptop with Windows 10 Home. It's never had anything other than Windows 10 on it - unless they upgraded it at the factory.
A brand new ativa 8GB USB flash drive. Note that the packaging for the USB drive does not include Windows 10 in the System Requirements, but seriously?
What I've tried:
- Plugging the flash drive into all three USB ports (USB 2, USB 2, and USB 3)
- Reformatting the flash drive with FAT32
- Restarting the computer with the flash drive plugged in
- Turning off Real-Time Scanning in McAffee
I've seen a few threads with this issue in Windows 8, but none of the potential solutions in those threads have worked for me. So here I am asking the same question, but for Windows 10.
